NASA Tribute Chopper

Let me just state up front that I found the “stars” of American Chopper completely and utterly OBNOXIOUS… but they did happen to do a really spectacular tribute bike themed around Space Shuttle Discovery’s Return to Flight mission in 2005, STS-114.

The bike’s episodes are #58 & #59, which aired October 3 & 10, 2005. Minus the stars’ antics, fights and general… drama… the bike is a thing of beauty, and if these guys have one thing right, it’s an eye for minute detail. The gas tank is shuttle-shaped, the exhaust pipes (shown below, my favorite detail) are tipped with a replica of the Space Shuttle Main Engines, and the airbrush work and detailed painting throughout is just… spectacular. I particularly like the miniature orbiting shuttle “spinners” on the wheels, front and back. The gallery is definitely worth a look!

Is this all we have to offer? OF COURSE NOT!
Bob's has always been known for keeping one of the largest inventories of new and used BMW's on hand 12 months a year. Because we sell so many bikes (1 customer at a time) we simply choose not to show you a photo (or line listing) of every bike available and clog up the site. But rest assured we have the new or used bike (and plenty of non BMW's) you desire available, and if we don't have it right now it's probably on a truck or in a ship heading here so it will be ready for you very soon.
BOB WANTS YOU to show us your clean, mechanically perfect and desirable used bikes. We even want your dirty, possibly not run in eleven years and far less than perfect bike too. Regardless of the year, model, condition or brand. Period.

Just TWO requirements: 1) that you have a clear title in your possession, and 2.) you have at least one key to give us. It's that simple.

Our customers are eager for used bikes at every price level. GSX-R 1100 show bikes

always one of the most exclusive bikes you can ever lay your filthy hands on. If you have a load of cash in your bank, you might as well customize it fully and get it all done up with carbon fiber. The bike was designed by Justin and it comes with an awesome 989 oil-cooled 1200cc GSX-R 1100 engine. It also has the much needed Wiseco kit. Linq designs have lent their expertise to design the LED accent lights, custom body works, reservoirs, levers and other such stuff.

If you were wondering how exclusive it really is, it even got featured on Kayne’s latest video. I would say this bike looks la little rustic but then since it is customizable, you could get it to look like you want it to. The bike has been quoted to cost $14,500 and is up for grabs. If you would like to bid, it is open for bidding too.

If you are into carbon fiber stuff, you would treasure this bike like your own soul mate. It really would be fun to ride this bike on a highway with no one in sight. You would have the self satisfaction of riding one of the best bikes too!

2009 Indian Motorcycles - Where's the Love

OK, I know Indian Motorcycles debuted their new motorcycles at Sturgis, all four models are listed on their site, and I've seen pictures from the grand opening of the first dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina. What I want to know is when is the press intro, Indian? There's faithful fans waiting to see if the new regime can pull this thing off and return Indian to its cult-like status, but as far as I know, nobody in the media has ridden one yet. I understand that Stellican Ltd., the new owners, have been very cautious in handling the line's release, but don't you think the general public would like to hear a little press on the product before they plop down $30-$40 grand?

This is by no means a slam to the new ownership. On the contrary, we would love to get a chance to test one out. When I interviewed Indian Chairman Stephen Julius back in May of 2007 he came across as an intelligent, passionate guy that was determined to right the ship. So my question now is - Where's the Love, Indian Motorcycles? All we want is a chance to ride and give the people an impartial, fair assessment of the new bikes. So when is the intro? Who do I have to wrestle to get on the list? I thought we were buds, Julius.

Certainly, I jest, but I am keeping myPost Tags: 2009 Indian Motorcycles, Chief, Scout, Charlotte Dealership
fingers crossed that I'll get an invitation.

Bajaj Pulsar 150 cc08May09

Bajaj is always innovating to appeal the young bikers. The same old pulsar 150cc may not appeal in the new bikes market so it had given a facelift and launched as new Pulsar 150 cc. Sounds like same old wine in new bottle? The new cosmetically elevated Bajaj Pulsar 150cc is eye candy and sure to appeal the young biking enthusiasts.

The new facelift Bajaj Pulsar 150cc was launched silently recently as a silent surprise to all Pulsar fans. The second largest motorcycle maker, Bajaj Auto India is expected to give a boost to its sales figure with the new launches and product upgrades posing competition to Honda’s Unicorn, TVS’ Apache and Hero Honda’s CBZ Xtreme. The company aims to stay ahead as its famous tagline Distinctly Ahead.

Other add-ons include wolf-eyed headlamp to sport a ferocious on-road look. Then, there is digital cockpit and LED tail lamp set to match its front aggressive appeal with a definitely brighter illumination. The headlight is powered directly from the battery in the new Pulsar 150cc. So your old Pulsar 180 cc will be the new pulsar 150cc. You are paying less for more.

In the 150cc segment, the looks of Pulsar received a makeover with complete Black matt finish for its alloy wheels sculpting the legacy of black theme from Bajaj. The
tank looks extended just like Bajaj Pulsar 200cc.

Other features include adjustable handlebars, 5.2 gallons fuel capacity, and inverted fork suspension. The Cross Roads has a dry weight of 745 lbs and the Cross Country weighs 765 lbs. Aimed squarely at Harley Davidson’s Road King and Street Glide, both the bikes are priced less than their competitors. Kawasaki surprise with new VN900 Light Tourer

Kawasaki has announced a surprise fourth new bike at the European launch of the VN1700. The VN900 Light Tourer adds a screen, passenger back rest, spot lights and saddlebags to extend the range of their entry-level cruiser for what Kawasaki hopes will be a small £400-600 premium over the £5999 base machine.

Read the Kawasaki VN900 Light Tourer first ride report
But Kawasaki is awaiting YOUR reaction to decide whether to bring the bike to the UK. If the small-bore VN floats your boat – which would bring the VN900 range to three, with the Classic and Custom – let them know by commenting on this article or voting in our poll. All the parts are taken from the Kawasaki accessories lineup; Kawasaki says it has chosen to offer the belt-driven Light Tourer as a stand-alone model to show people how seriously its compact cruiser can be taken as a touring machine. We’ll be riding the VN900 Light Tourer tomorrow when we’ll be able to confirm if they’re right.

First BMW Supersport! S1000RR

Let the speculation end! BMW has officially pulled the covers off of its S 1000 RR race bike, which will sprout a production model next year. General Director of BMW Motorrad Hendrik von Kuenheim says that the company is committed to building 1,000 units of the new model next year. Featuring a 1000cc inline-four transversely mounted between the frame rails and an upside-down front fork, the RR is rather conventional by BMW standards.

This has allowed the Motorrad to keep the bike as compact as possible, which can be attested to by the fact that it has been spotted lapping tracks in Yamaha R6 bodywork. So far, no specifications have been given regarding power levels, but we fully expect it to be competitive with the Superbike front-runners. Traction control is also reportedly put to good use. Judging from the extensive use of (bare) carbon fiber, we’d expect the weight to be on par with the competition, as well. There’s an entire speech pasted after the break, so be sure to check it out.
BMW plans to crack the top ten next year in World Superbike racing and is expecting podium finishes the following year. Considering the fact that the Big Four Japanese manufacturers literally have a head start measuring a few decades on BMW, it’s probably wise to set attainable goals for now.

Benelli Tre-K

This Italian motorcycle manufacturer was founded in the 1920s by six brothers and in it's early history also built guns. Funded entirely by their mother with the family's only savings success was imperative. The company had great racing success firstly with one of the brothers riding. Tonino took their 175cc four stroke to victories in 1937 before retiring shortly afterwards. The bikes continued to win though, most notably with rider Dario Ambrosini's victory in the 1950 250cc world championship. Unfortunately Ambrosini died shortly afterwards. The company forged on however and racing and sales successes continued up until the 1960s when Japanese imports began to compete for European sales.

As sales dwindled the Benelli family was forced to sell the company to car baron Alejandro de Tomaso. New models under his ownership included the Sei 750 and a later 900cc version but neither bike was a great success. The Benelli brand was to enter a long period of stagnation.

Benelli remained inactive for many years until the 1990s when new management under the ownership of Chinese Group Qianjiang launched a whole new range of models. The Benelli Tornado is a fitting successor to the companies prior models and brings the Benelli name well into the 21st century. Other new bikes include the TNT, Cafe Racer and Tre-K. 1130 cc Engine,

Aprilia RSV4 2009 superbike!!

After numerous spy shots and leaked details, Aprilia has finally pulled the wraps off its upcoming RSV4 superbike. This is the machine that the Italian company will use to contest the Superbike World ChTo properly do battle, the RSV4 will make some 210-horsepower — fully competitive with the best the series currently has to offer. While the race-going RSV4 is an amazing piece of kit, it’s the street-bred RESV4, which will come in both normal and factory guises, that’s of the most interest… since you’ll actually be able to purchase one sometime next year.

Powered by a 999cc V-Four engine mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch, we expect the Factory to be on par power-wise with the Ducati 1098R, meaning about 180 horses or more. Coupled to a wet weight of 418 pounds the RSV4 will be one seriously fast machine. A ride-by-wire system will likely allow Aprilia to offer more than one engine map to adjust power for specific conditions. One of the more interesting bits of kit that will be standard across the line are the numerous chassis adjustments, including the ability to alter the swingarm position and the headstock angle. Styling-wise, the new RSV4 tips its hat to the RSV 1000R that we tested earlier this year with its third eye headlight that mimics the shape of the old ram-air duct from the twin. The rest of the bike looks thoroughly new and appropriately awesome. We’re not sure how much it’ll cost, but we know we want one regardless.

New Yamaha FZ16 150cc bike Road Test - Review

Yamaha Motors which was lagging in India few years back is right on target to get back its reputation in Indian Market which it enjoyed for many years with bike like RX100 . After few months of launch of YZF R15 they launched new Yamaha FZ 16, a 153 cc bold bike. So today I finally go hand to check out this bike and present a road test hereThis new bike is priced at Rs. 65000 (ex Showroom), its again pricey as compared to other bikes in 150cc segment but hey, it is so distinct and so bold, people who want to unique will sure go for it. We know it is sort of trimmed down version of Yamaha's global bike .. rather naked bike FZ1. And if you give closer look, its not a direct copy of FZ1, rather look like sibling to FZ1.

First glance of bike will make you to look at it again and again. As a naked bike, Yamaha has paid so much attention to every details of the bike. Starting with fuel tank, the fuel tank is huge, curvy shape and goes as high to the handlebars. Most part the fuel tank is plastic fairing and the real steel tank is beneath.
After that I go to Instrument Cluster, again it has unique layout and its colorful. May look cool but you need to pay extra attention to it in order to read in real life condition. Or may be I was not able to get use to it fast.
Coming to the front, the headlight, well clear Yamaha FZ1 style, the headlamp is V-shaped and looks like sleeping down with meter ie. instrument cluster at top. Overall, most important aspect of naked look.

The engine of the bike which is 153 cc with 14 PS at 7500 rpm of power and maximum torque of 13.6 delivered at 6000 rpm is also neatly packed, high attention is paid to the details of engine areas and at first glimpse it create a look of power packed bike. The bike is provided FIVE speed transmission. This power train was able to make 0-60 kmph in mere 52 seconds. Acceleration is pretty good and it won't give you hiccups while pickup. As acceleration is smooth, you will get pretty fast soon but as you go high in speed reaching maximum or peak speed of Yamaha FZ16 is cumbersome, it will take time and effort reach peak speed which is about 114 kmph. After 95 kmph bike tends to feel little heavy on acceleration. But remember, they call it Lord of Streets. Its meant for quick biking .. zip zap and go.. .The bike's engine vibrations are amazingly low and it starts with throaty gruns. The exhaust of the bike is also unique which has a loop below in engine chamber and in the end a short exhaust making it better support to torque. On design wise, the exhaust is small is sort of double layer cover which prevents it from getting it heated.
The rear pillion seat don't look much comfortable but its really comfortable and set just right. One of the another unique feature of the bike is its fatty rear tyre. Its 140/60 radial tubeless tyre. This wide rubber gives an impressive rear look as well as add an stunning style to overall package. Its fattier than those many higher capacity engine bikes.
While riding positing is sporty, wider handle bar gives you are cool feeling and turning is just fun. Riding this bike on bumpy road was not so smooth, may be we need to adjust Monoshock absorbers to little more softer settings. This bikes comes monoshock suspension at rear with and comes nine suspension settings, means will have fun time with playing these settings as per conditions of roads.

As they advertised, this is really Lord of the streets, be it looks or performance. Lots of torque at lower rpm makes it choice for urban commuting. A bold bike which is definitely creating a space for itself. May be more room for Yamaha in Indian Biking Industry.

BMW to make it's mark in motorsport

The revelation that BMW is set to enter the World Superbike Championship in 2009 – as revealed in MCN this week – perhaps shouldn’t be such a surprise, since the firm has been gradually revamping its image for the last five years.

While the firm has long been involved in four-wheeled motorsport, and has competed on two wheels in events like the Paris Dakar rally, its recent entry in the Le Mans 24 hour race was the first time in 50 years the firm ran its own works road racing team.

But the build-up to that has been a long time coming. For several years BMW has run the Boxer Cup championship for R1100S machines, and the PowerCup for the K1200R, as well as providing significant sponsorship to the MotoGP championship.
And the increased motorsport activity has been reflected in its production model range. The K1200S, K1200R and the new R1200S all show a new, sportier face to a firm who’s products were once considered the two wheeled equivalent to a comfy pair of slippers.

And it’s not just road racing that BMW has shown an interest in. Its 450cc enduro prototype hinted at a greater involvement in off-road competition, and just last week BMW signed a deal to buy the Husqvarna marque in its entirety from previous owner Claudio Castiglioni. That gives it a ready-made range of off-road machines, ready to race – although the bikes will retain Husqvarna branding rather than gaining BMW badges.

The decision to enter WSB might come after a behind the scenes flirtation with the idea of a MotoGP bike – albeit a brief affair that came to nothing – but the production-based championship is arguably a more fitting slot for the firm’s image. Where treks like the Long Way Round publicise the abilities of its off-road R1200GS, racing in WSB will give a marketing push to its more road-based bikes.

It’s not the first time BMW has considered the WSB championship. Back in 1992 it developed a boxer twin superbike with the intention of taking on the all-conquering Ducatis in WSB. Called the R1 – long before Yamaha owned that name – the BMW prototype used an all-new 1000cc, DOHC, water-cooled boxer twin, with around 160bhp. Not much by today’s standards, but enough to be competitive back then.
Late in the bike’s development, BWM decided the design wouldn’t be competitive enough to guarantee the success needed to make the investment worthwhile, and backed away from the idea of racing.

Now it’s back. The new project, which uses a four-cylinder engine, promises to be truly competitive. Codenamed 190/190 inside the factory, the bike is targeting 190bhp at the crankshaft and a 190kg wet weight in road-going trim. If it hit that, race versions should have no problem meeting the 210bhp-plus needed to be competitive in WSB, and slimming down to the 162kg minimum weight limit for the series.

BMW isn’t commenting on the project officially, but an insider told MCN that there would be an announcement about its race plans later this year. He also hinted that we were in for a big surprise at one of this year’s major bike shows, suggesting a prototype of the new machine could appear.

Even if it does reveal the bike this year, BMW won’t be racing in WSB until 2009 – but showing a prototype will allow it the luxury of testing relatively publicly for a year, on the tracks used by the WSB series, without having to try to hide the bike. Production versions of the 190/190 could also go on sale before its race debut, as BMW will need to meet the production targets set by the WSB series to homologate the machine.

7 new bikes from BMW Motorrad Malaysia this year

BMW Malaysia is introducing a total of 7 new motorcycles this year, the BMW HP2 Sport, the BMW K 1300 S, the BMW K 1300 R, the BMW K 1300 GT, the BMW R 1200 R, the BMW F 650 GS and the BMW F 800 GS. BMW bike sales for 2008 represented a 36% increase over 2007 sales – a total of 183 units.

The BMW K 1300 S is the fastest BMW motorcycle ever in terms of acceleration. Under full hard acceleration, you can hit 100km/h in 2.8 seconds but achieving this requires far more skill than a car driver would need. This kind of acceleration is no joke, it is faster than either the M3 or the M5 and you aren’t sitting nicely in a sports bucket seat while experiencing it.

This is thanks to the bike’s 1.3 liter four-cylinder engine which puts out a total of 175 horsepower and 140Nm of torque. It revs up to a stratospheric 11,000rpm redline. The K 1300 S retails for RM 119,000 while the K 1300 R and the K 1300 GT is priced at RM120k and RM135k respectively.
The limited edition BMW HP2 Sport is a limited edition bike and only 11 units have been allocated to Malaysia. The two-cylinder boxer-engine bike marked the return of BMW Motorrad to racing in the 2008 Endurance Championships and it is technically based on the R 1200 S. Its ABS system can be user-deactivated for the race track. Power output is 128 hp at 8.750rpm and 115Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. This baby is priced at RM 158,888.
The BMW R 1200 R replaces the R 1150 R and is a roadster motorcycle priced at RM 108,000. The bike’s twin-cylinder boxer engine of 1.2 liters in capacity uses a shaft drive and claims to be the first bike in the world with ASC Automatic Stability Control, though Honda actually offered some form of traction control on the ST-series in the 90s. Its engine puts out 109hp, a 28% increase over its predecessor, and 115Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.
The entry level bikes to the GS world are the F 800 GS and the F 650 GS, new enduro models which retail at RM 83,800 and RM 71,000 respectively. All of the models above include a 2 year warranty with unlimited mileage and are available from Auto Bavaria Bukit Bintang and Auto Bavaria Penang.
